Dear Friends,

Last Thursday, we held our annual fundraising event: A Safer Texas. It was an inspiring and energizing evening with incredible advocates, survivors, supporters and partners. Simply put, it’s people like you—those with a passion for advocating for life-saving changes—who inspire us to continue the fight against the pervasive, yet preventable, gun violence we face today.

We had the honor to hear from Representative Vikki Goodwin, Council Member Alison Alter, and inspiring student advocate Jasir Rahman. Kristin Song of the Ethan Miller Song Foundation spoke of her courageous work changing the safe firearm storage laws in her state and influencing the direction of gun violence prevention efforts across the country, turning heartbreaking tragedy into action.

As the evening came to a close, we presented the Frances Schenkkan Advocate of the Year award to ATX Peace for their incredibly valuable work interrupting cycles of violence through the power of community. The inspirational violence interrupters with ATX Peace use their firsthand experiences to improve the lives of people in the communities they serve. Without question, these advocates represent some of the best changemakers in Texas.

Your support helps us continue this work year-round and into the 89th Texas Legislative Session by bringing in more voices, defending against harmful legislation, pushing for safe gun storage laws, and fighting alongside the families from Uvalde to raise the age to purchase a semi-automatic rifle.

Thanks to our incredible donors, we’re excited to announce that we exceeded our fundraising goal of $50,000. If you missed this event, you can still support our work by making a gift today

We couldn’t do this work without you. Thank you.
