Through our work at Texas Gun Sense, we often cross paths with young people leading the charge to end gun violence. That’s why I’m so excited to announce the recipient of the Jesse Woche Student Gun Violence Prevention Champion of the Year Award is the tireless advocacy organization Students Engaged in Advancing Texas (SEAT).
At A Safer Texas, our upcoming fundraiser and annual celebration of our work, we will honor these transformational Texans.
SEAT is a growing movement of young people demonstrating youth visibility in policymaking. They seek to dismantle oppressive power structures while driving civic transformation to better communities across Texas.
Their work centers students, amplifies youth stories, and promotes student rights. At its core, SEAT is shaping a future where students hold agency in education.
