Our work at the Texas Legislature fuels real progress for safer Texas communities. We meet with lawmakers, testify in hearings, and build the relationships that turn ideas into action. We track bills, amplify public voices, and maintain a visible presence at the Capitol—laying the foundation for gradual victories. Every effort strengthens the networks, strategy, and momentum needed to advance a safer Texas for all.

Expand community violence intervention and secure gun storage education

in the community

Promote secure gun storage & suicide prevention. We educate Texans on secure storage and expand access to voluntary, temporary out-of-home storage options to prevent suicide, unintentional shootings, and unauthorized access.

Partner with gun dealers on crisis safety. We work with dealers to share safe storage info, connect buyers with mental health resources, and encourage crisis-prevention practices at the point of sale.

Advance local gun safety initiatives. We support city councils, county leaders, and local agencies in adopting practical gun safety policies and community-based prevention programs.

Support community violence intervention (CVI). We champion evidence-based, public health violence reduction strategies and invest in partnerships that reach those at highest risk, particularly in under-resourced communities.
