May 24, 2024

We remember the lives taken in the horrific shooting in Uvalde, on May 24, 2022, and stand with the courageous survivors who want to honor the lives of their loved ones with action.

Last year, Texas Gun Sense, with Lives Robbed from Uvalde and other survivors and partners, advocated to raise the age required to purchase semi-automatic rifles from 18 to 21 in Texas.

Following a bipartisan committee vote, state leaders did not move this bill to final passage, despite the 30,000 calls and emails that you, our supporters, made. Together, we will continue this fight.

Texas Gun Sense honored the courageous work of Lives Robbed at our annual event. Accepting the award, Kimberly Mata-Rubio, mother of Lexi Rubio, said that it is her job to honor Lexi’s life with action. Now, she and other survivors from Uvalde are fighting for accountability and justice through a major lawsuit.

We will continue to honor Lexi and all of the lives stolen in the tragic shooting, alongside Lives Robbed, and support their work for justice and accountability.

Please join us.

We won’t stop until our lawmakers honor the victims, their families, and the community of Uvalde with meaningful policy change. If you live in Texas, please click here to send a message to your lawmaker, demanding their action on Raise the Age.

Thank you for joining us in advocating and honoring victims of gun violence in Texas.
