Meet our Board of Directors

David Dunn

President

David’s company, D 2 Strategies, works to improve educational outcomes for our nation’s students, especially those students who historically have been underserved by the education system.

David was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University in 1979 with a degree in Political Science and in 1982 he earned a Masters in Government from The University of Texas at Austin. David has been a gun owner all of his adult life and has enjoyed hunting and fishing. He became a passionate advocate for reasonable gun safety law and regulation and served on the Steering Committee of Texas Gun Owners for Safety, an affiliate of the Giffords Organization, and joined the Board of Texas Gun Sense in January of 2023. He currently lives in Austin, TX with his wife, Terrell Halaska Dunn.

Kelsey Erickson Streufert 

Vice Chair

Kelsey Erickson Streufert is the Vice President of Government Relations and Advocacy for the Texas Restaurant Association (TRA). TRA represents the state’s $70 billion restaurant industry with more than 50,000 locations and 1.4 million jobs across the state. Prior to joining TRA, Kelsey served as general counsel for Texas Senator Kirk Watson (D-Austin), and as a policy analyst to Texas Senator John Carona (R-Dallas). A double Longhorn, Kelsey graduated at the top of her class from UT Austin with her Bachelor of Arts in Government and, six years later, her law degree. Kelsey chairs the Policy Committee.

Jaime Thompson

Secretary

Jaime Thompson is a communications and media strategist with over 15 years experience working in the entertainment industry. She was born in Washington DC and attended the University of Virginia, where she received a BA in Sociology and Gender Studies. After school, she moved to New York City and worked in the music industry, primarily at Warner Music Group, and now works at an LA-based agency 2b Entertainment doing corporate communications, brand strategy and artist PR. In 2021, she, her Austinite husband and two young daughters moved to Austin, TX. She is the board secretary, chair of the Communications committee, and is also on the Development committee.

Bonnie Cook

Treasurer

Bonnie Cook is a nonprofit leader and advocate with over 25 years of experience forging creative approaches to fundraising, financing structures, partnerships and innovative services. Bonnie enjoys recruiting volunteer leaders, stewardship, and engagement that fosters productivity, energy and strives to make a difference in the world.

Jon Brandt

Board Member

Jon is a management consultant at Deloitte where he leads teams focused on expanding and improving healthcare programs run by state governments. Before joining the board, Jon graduated with a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School at UT-Austin. During his studies at the LBJ School, he served as an intern for Texas Gun Sense. He also wrote a Master’s thesis on campus carry, using in-depth quantitative analysis to show that the policy has not historically reduced gun crimes or increased safety on college campuses. In addition to chairing the Board, Jon sits on the Policy and Development Committees. 

Travis Krogman

Board Member

Travis is the Vice President, Government Relations & Public Affairs for the Austin Transit Partnership. Previously, he led the Austin Chamber of Commerce’s advocacy and engagement efforts at the state and national levels. A veteran of Capitol Hill, Travis spent 10 years working in the United States Congress where he served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) and as a policy advisor to Congressman Al Green (TX-09). Travis lives in the Hill Country with his wife and two kids and enjoys golfing, playing baseball and coaching his son’s tee-ball team.

Dana Rundlof

Board Member

Dana Rundlof serves on the board of Texas Gun Sense, and is the School Safety Lead for Texas for our coalition partner, Moms Demand Action. She is a former attorney and a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School.  Her hometown is Newtown, Connecticut and she has been active in gun violence prevention and school safety work for the past four years.  She has three school aged children in Austin, Texas, and also serves on her children’s school’s Board Safety Committee.

Louis Wichers

Board Member

Louis was a junior high science teacher for eight years, a full-time police officer for more than 15, and an analyst with a law enforcement agency for 10 years. He was a firearms instructor for his department and for basic recruits at a law enforcement training academy. He is still a recreational shooter. Louis got involved with Texas Gun Sense to lend his deep expertise on gun issues, from the practical aspects of using a gun to understanding how policy issues get implemented in the real world. Louis sits on the Communications and Policy Committees.
