Texas leads the nation in the number of unintentional shootings. This is a tragedy. But we don’t have to live like this.

Last year, there were 156 unintentional shootings which resulted in 49 deaths and 113 injuries. In many of these instances, children with easy access to firearms pulled the trigger.

In 2023, Texas not only led the nation in unintentional shootings, but also in gun sales. Lax gun laws combined with high rates of gun ownership inevitably lead to more gun tragedies.

We need your help to address these preventable deaths and injuries.

We have developed a comprehensive Safe Storage Toolkit to help gun owners and community members understand the importance of responsible gun storage and take action to prevent unintentional shootings. We urge you to read our Safe Storage Toolkit and implement these straightforward steps in your home and community. You can play a vital role in reducing the number of unintentional shootings and saving lives.

Thank you for your commitment to prevent unintentional shootings and make Texas safer.

HOW TO TAKE ACTION

Share the Toolkit: Spread the word about our Safe Storage Toolkit with your networks, friends, and family members. Encourage others to download and utilize these resources to promote gun safety in their communities.

Contact Your School District: Use our sample letter to reach out to school districts and urge them to prioritize safe storage education by distributing materials to families of students. Your advocacy can make a difference in ensuring that vital information reaches those who need it most.

Engage in Dialogue: Initiate conversations about safe storage practices with your peers and community leaders.

Please consider supporting our Texas-based work to end gun violence. We work tirelessly to demand common sense laws, and we cannot do this without donors like you. Thank you!
